Southampton’s First Dispensary
Brown Budda New York is Southampton’s first legal cannabis dispensary with delivery, retail shopping, and pick-up available.
Chef Marq Hayes, CEO
Marq Hayes, a culinary maestro and self-taught Bronx native, has a journey that reads like a novel. From a stint behind bars to the stoves of Michelin-starred hotspots like The French Laundry, Benu, and WD-50, his resourcefulness is nothing short of remarkable. Teaming up with Chef Malcolm Livingston II, they gave birth to Ghetto Gastro, a culinary collective with its roots firmly in the Bronx. At 22 Chestnut, his farm-to-fork haven in Cooperstown, NY, Marq unveiled Brown Butter New York, a gourmet butter line. From nationwide pop-ups to supper clubs, his ventures are as diverse as they are ambitious. Swapping illicit dealings for the legitimate hustle of the catering business, he paved a new path for success.
A beacon for entrepreneurship, Marq's drive is relentless, particularly in an environment devoid of venture capital access. He doesn't just grab opportunities; he crafts them. Spotting a golden opportunity in New York's cannabis legalization, Marq ventured into the world of cannabis commerce with Brown Budda New York LLC, a venture with a social equity ethos. As a vital cog in the company, he secured a CAURD license, paving the way for opening the first recreational state-licensed dispensary in Southampton.
